Congratulations to the Augustus F. Hawkins 3rd place winners of the Popsicle Bridge Competition.
Physics teachers Ms. Costo and Ms. Ugbogu have facilitated a full year of hands-on Engineering, including electric powered houses and models of their school, refrigerators and air conditioner models, stomp & water powered rockets, balloon powered cars, musical instrumentals, paper roller coasters & skyscrapers. The Urban Ecology Design project (electric powered, sustainably redesigned school models) was a collaboration between Social Studies (Mr. Gomez) & Physics (Ms. Costo). Check out the images.

SHOW YOUR GLOW! HOMECOMING DANCE 2014
Our “Show your Glow” Homecoming is on November 8th at 6pm and we want to see all Hawks there. It will be a glow in the dark experience that you don’t want to miss.
Tickets will be on sale in the student store beginning Tuesday, October 14. You will need a student ID to purchase a ticket. Your ID will be your ticket! Tickets are 1 for $20 or 2 for $30. Tickets come with a special Homecoming souvenir, so get yours today.
Students who would like to bring a guest from another school can pick up the form from the student store or Ms. Castillo.
Are you a senior interested in being Homecoming Queen or King? What about an junior, sophomore, or freshman who wants to be Homecoming Prince or Princess? Run for our “Show your Glow” Homecoming Court today. Download an application here or pick up a form in the student store. All applications are due October 20th. The Hawkins "GirlPower" Team placed 3rd Friday at the USC-SHPE DiscoverE Day at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. DiscoverE Day was the culmination event for National Engineering Week at USC. There were 30 teams with over 300 students participating at this event, with 4 teams from Hawkins High School, one team chose to be all girls. Teams were required to build a structure out of spaghetti sticks design a poster explaining the engineering design process and approach to building and finally present to the judges with all members taking part in communicating their methods. Congrats to our Hawkins "GirlPower" Team.

Congratulations to Wendy Serrano, CHAS student, member of Leadership, volleyball team and soccer team and Faizon Boykins, CDAGS student and 1st team All-League boy's basketball player. They were selected to participate in a global sports service project to Ethiopia this summer. They both submitted applications, letters of recommendation and were interviewed to receive a scholarship to participate with The S.E.L.F. Project--Sports Education Leadership Foundation.

Maia Mehmood was League Champion in the shot put this track season.
Faizon Boykins was named First Team All-League for boy's basketball.
Tyrell Story was named Second-Team All-League for boy's basketball.
