Hawkins Mock Election 2016

Greg Johnson and Joseph Lewis Honored as U.S. Army All-Americans

(from left, G. Johnson, Coach James, J. Lews)

On Tuesday, September 27th, two of Hawkins own were honored by being selected as members of the U.S. Army All-American West Team. Greg Johnson and Joseph Lewis were honored during a ceremony held at Hawkins in front of teammates, coaches, school staff, friends and family. This honor is only awarded to the best 90 football players in the nation and both Johnson and Lewis will compete for the West Team when the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is held in San Antonio on January 7th, 2017. The game will be televised on NBC at 10am PST.

Johnson and Lewis came to Hawkins after attending John Muir Middle School and began playing for the Hawkins Varsity team during their 9th grade year. Both will finish their high school careers widely regarded as some of the nation’s top college prospects.

This marks the first time in Hawkins Football's brief history that a player has been selected for the All-American team and truly speaks to the success of the program. Coach James and his staff have built the nationally recognized program in just the start of the fourth year with three players already playing the NCAA. The Hawkins family is extremely proud of these young men and their accomplishments and can't wait to see them play on the national stage.

You can read more about the ceremony as well as interviews from Johnson and Lewis in the USA Today article found HERE.
