Hawkins' CDAGS Students Re-Design Vans Shoes!

CDAGS art students at  Augustus F. Hawkins Schools for Community Action have been hard at work redesigning Vans shoes for an official contest which can be found online at #vanscustomculture! Over the past month, CDAGS students from 9th, 11th, & 12th grades have been showing off their talent and creative thinking skills after school in Mr. Haytin's Art Classroom by creating designs on white Vans shoes sent to Hawkins directly by Vans shoe company for the 2016 Vans Custom Culture Contest. Patricia Hanson, Principal


Patricia Hanson is the Principal of C:\DAGS. She is in her 10th year as an educator for LAUSD. Previous roles include being Instructional Coach, Social Studies teacher, Internship Coordinator, Schools for Community Action Design Team member, GSA advisor, Common Core Fellow and department chair. She was one of the lead writers of the original school proposals that resulted in our school's existence through the superintendent's approval. In 2015 Ms. Hanson was identified as one of the Top 25 Inspirational Teachers in Los Angeles by the United Way.  Ms. Hanson has two Masters degrees in Education, an Administrative Credential, a Teaching Credential, and a Bachelors of Arts in American Studies.
